Course Description
In this course students will learn about Audio Engineering through a hands on project. Students will work with other students with the help of a music facilitator to develop knowledge, skill and technique in a professional studio environment. The goal in this workshop is to provide students with a professional recording facility, experience hands on technical training, and further more, encourage their creative efforts in education.
Validation: Partial Science and Technology * Demonstration of competence in current information technology.
* Demonstration of the ability to read and understand technical writing.
* Demonstration of the ability to convey technical information through writing or speaking.
Student certifiable outcomes & Course Content
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Display a working knowledge of the audio recording process and the equipment involved
2. Properly set up and use standard studio equipment to record instruments and vocals
4. Show a strong understanding of audio signal flow in audio production and editing
5. Properly maintain, clean and inspect the Recording studios for proper use and function
6. Display a basic knowledge and understanding of Pro Tools audio recording software.
7. Become certified studio 4 engineers that can operate recording sessions
Prerequisites
None. This course requires no previous knowledge or skills in audio recording, sound reinforcement or computers.

Attendance and Withdrawal Policies
At the instructor's discretion, students may be dropped if they do not attend 87.5% of the classes or labs.
Course Requirements and Grading Policy
Your final grade will be based on the following proportions:
1. Reading -30%
2. Assignments - 30%
5. Project #1 - 20%
6. Final Test - 20%
Final grades are based on a ten point grading system.
A= 100-90
B= 89-80
C= 79-70
D=69-60
F= 59-0
Make-up policy
Each instructor enforces his or her own make-up policy. 'Incomplete' final grades are only appropriate if unusual circumstances cause a student to miss one or two major assignments or final test. An 'Incomplete' may only given if the student and the instructor discuss and agree to this option.
